Hair Transplant Surgery
Hair transplant surgery is a common medical and cosmetic surgery. It is widely performed all around the world.
What is hair transplant surgery?
In simple terms, it is the extraction of the resistant hair follicles from the back of the scalp, and the transplantation of these extracted hair follicles on to the bald areas of the scalp. The transplanted hair is extracted from the patient’s own scalp.
Hair transplant or hair transplantation works on a basic principle. Most males experience male-pattern baldness, which is a hereditary type of baldness.
Scientists have come to the conclusion that the hair on the sides and the back of a scalp are resistant to loss. They remain on the scalp for the lifetime of the person. If you look around, you will notice this fact too. Most of those who seem completely bald shave their whole scalp.
Hair transplant surgery is not painful. It is not a major surgery like organ transplantation, however, it is a medical surgery and must be performed by qualified surgeons and medical teams.
Hair transplantation is performed under local anesthesia. In only rare cases is general anesthesia required. It takes 6-10 hours depending on the hair loss pattern of the patient, and the size of the bald spots and areas.
One magnificient aspect of hair transplant surgeries is that if done well, they are permanent. The transplanted hair does not fall out. The surgeons move the hair follicles from the back of your scalp. This part is not left with visible scars. And if you are suitable for the operation, you get back your hair.
The results of hair transplants are not immediately observed. The transplanted hair falls out within the first few months of the transplantation, and they start growing back after about 4 months. Usually one year after the transplant is a good time to see the results.
