Male Hair Transplant - Star Hair Transplant

Male Hair Transplant

Hair transplants in men are widely performed. Male hair transplant is an old procedure – 60 or more so years old. It has progressed over the years, and has become common.

When you hear hair transplants in men or male hair transplants, think of male pattern hair loss. If you are an adult male experiencing hair loss, if your father or uncles had thinning hair, you might be a sufferer of male pattern baldness too. This is good news because once you find out that you have male pattern/type baldness you can have hair transplant surgery.

Not all hair loss types have a cure or treatment but luckily for male pattern hair loss, hair transplant surgery is available.

If you want to get a hair transplant, you should aim for an “undetectable” hair transplant. Not all hair transplants end well. Not all surgeons and their assistants are skilled.

However, the new techniques allow for better results. In the past, a strip from the back of the head was removed, and split into pieces, then was transplanted into the bald areas. This technique goes by the name FUT.

Nowadays, FUE is more effective, and involves the taking of hair follicles on the donor site one by one, and then moving of them into the tiny incisions made on the balding sites one by one.

It is a minimally invasive and delicate procedure. Often, when you hear that someone has had an undetectable hair transplant, and can only see a natural appearance, that is because it is a FUE performed by a skilled surgeon.

FUE hair transplants in men are widely available, and the costs are not too high in Turkey.

Many studies prove that hair transplants make men more attractive. Perhaps, the reason behind this is not only aesthetic but psychological. Imagine getting your hair back = your hair once that has been full. When you get it back, you feel more self-confident and happy.

Good Candidate For Hair Transplant

Having excessive hair loss does not guarantee being a good candidate for hair transplant. While most people (especially male adults) can get a hair transplant, some people make better candidates.
What makes a good hair transplant candidate? Let’s look at what affects hair transplant results and the preconditions to get one:

  • Overall health of the hair loss patient: By the time of the procedure, the hair loss patient should be in good health, and should have no conditions that can affect the course of the procedure.
  • Being an adult/age: The procedure is most effective in male adults over 30 because teenagers experience hair loss for different reasons, and it is best to wait, and also, the doctors can get a better idea of the patient’s hair loss pattern if the patient is above 30. Then the hair loss is established, and we can better see the future hair loss. Men in 18-60, and women in the same age limits with suitable hair loss patterns can get hair transplants.
  • Having male pattern hair loss: This is a hereditary condition that affects the frontal hair.
  • Having enough hair on the donor site: The donor site in a hair transplant is the back of the head.
  • Scalp skin elasticity and flexibility: Having too tight or too loose scalp skin can affect the results.
  • Healthy lifestyle: Smoking, consuming alcohol too often, not exercising, having a bad diet, and vitamin deficiencies will all impact the result particularly if the healthy lifestyle resumes immediately after the procedure.
  • Those who have burn marks and scars on their body parts with hair can also be suitable to get a hair transplant.
  • Those who had hair transplants before but are not happy with the results, and still have enough donor hair can have hair transplants.

Hair transplant works in the case of permanent hair loss. If there is no donor hair, hair transplant will not be possible. If diffuse hair loss is experienced, hair transplant may not be possible either but if you have a scar that you wish to cover up, you might try hair transplant.
