What is The Appropriate Calculation For Grafts Before Hair Transplantation?

Each hair follicule transplanted to you is called a graft.

Grafts used in FUE procedure are transplanted individually from the back of the neck and above the ear. These grafts start growing in the transplanted areas in three months.

Grafts that are taken during the transplantation are extracted in single, double, triple, quadruple groups.  As seen in the photo, these grafts come in different groups

These grafts which usually come in double groups are kept in a special solutions in a cold place until the time for the transplantation comes.

As Star Hair, when we tell our patients the amount hair transplanted, we calculate the number of grafts, not strands. A number of grafts is provided to the patients. The number of grafts is decided by some factors such as the patients’ expectations, hair recession and back of the neck hair frequency.

The number of grafts to be transplanted vary on the hair recession and the hair frequency on the back of the neck. If the hair frequency is high on the patient, it is possible transplant around 3500 – 4000 grafts which amount to 7000 – 8000 hair strands.

In Star Hair, 5000 – 6000 grafts can be transplanted in two-day straight operations.

The length of the operation—whether it is a one-day or a two-day operation—is decided with the help of hair recession area and most importantly your hair frequency.

Graft number depends on hair frequency of the individuals. A person with an average hair frequency has around 3000 – 3500 grafts. People who have scars on the back of the neck or who have less frequency on the back of the neck has fewer grafts.

Before you decide on your hair transplantation operation, make sure that the hair center tells you the number of the grafts. Do not believe in hair centers that give you numbers as high as 8000 to 10.000 by using the difference in grafts and hair strands
